Step 2 - Create a site map

A site map is how your website will be laid out. A site map is not required as part of the course (you do not get marks for it!) but it will help you make a better E-Portfolio and help you design your menu.

This can be done on paper (in fact it is much faster that way!). Make sure you check it with your teacher before you start the next step.

All pages start with a home page. We then draw a diagram with the main sections of the project as boxes. The image below is a example site map. Each section below represents the main parts of the course.

If you have organized your file folders well then your site map will look the same as your folders!

We can (and should) split some of these sections down more. Look at the image below. The publications section has been expanded on so each page will only contain a single publication.

Do not try and cram too much into one page. This will make pages look crampt, busy and thus will be hard to get information from.
