Step 3 - Estimating time

How long will it take you to create a poster? 1 day? 2 days? 10? No idea? Estimating is a lot harder than it may seem. A estimate, for it to be meaningful, must be accurate. Breaking down tasks is the first step to an accurate estimate. The second is to understand how you are going to work!

You will get a certain number of lessons per week. Let us say you spent one lesson doing a task and then did no work at home how long did it take you? One hour obviously! But when can you start the next task? What if you do work at home? Confused yet?!? I am sure you are! There is a way of working it out using the formula below where -

Days = (duration / (Homework + lessons)) * 7

The empty plan has already got this formula in (phew!) so all you have to do is decide -

The example video will show you how to add times to the plan. When choosing how many hours it will take you must be honest. If you find design difficult then give yourself extra time. You will update it as you go along so they do not have to be perfect!

When you add the start date this should be either the start date of the course of the day after you completed the last task. This date should be estimated by the plan for you!
